Ladies and gents, we have one of the most intense, uplifting romantic stories in Bollywood history – Aashiqui 2. The movie was directed by Mohit Suri and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Mukesh Bhatt, and Krishan Kumar. It is a sequel to 1990’s Aashiqui and stars Aditya Roy Kapoor as Rahul Jaykar and Shraddha Kapoor as Arohi Keshav Shirke.
The storyline of Aashiqui 2 is no different from any other romantic movie you’ve seen in your life. Rahul Jaykar is an alcoholic singer who has lost his fame due to his addiction to alcohol. On the other hand, Arohi Keshav, who works in a bar in Goa, dreams of becoming a singing sensation. The two meet when Rahul stumbles into her bar drunk and sees her singing talent, he offers to mentor her into stardom. However, their journey towards success involves facing various personal struggles which threaten their relationship and careers dramatically.
The plot of the movie explores several themes such as love, addiction, redemption, talent, sacrifice, passion, courage that all come together to create a beautiful story that captivates audiences’ hearts. Rahul’s love for music paired with his addiction makes him unpredictable causing him problems with managing relationships with others including Arohi which leads them both down a rocky path towards redemption.
One scene that stands out is when Rahul confesses his love to Arohi while still heavily intoxicated but making up for missed opportunities. “Tumhein dekhte hi dil mein dhan te nan ho gaye” (The moment I saw you my heart skipped a beat). The two main characters were played brilliantly by Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor they both added so much depth and charm to their roles.
